Dr. Aqeel Ahmed Farooque is an experienced Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist working at Medcare Hospital. He completed his MBBS from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore, India and then obtained a Certificate of Completion of Training in Paediatrics (CCT) from the UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH), UK. With almost two decades of experience in his chosen field, Dr. Farooque has worked across the UK, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He began his career at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital & West Midlands Deanery, UK, first as a Paediatric Trainee and then continued there as a Specialist for nearly a decade. Subsequently, he moved to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he worked at the Security Forces Hospital in Makkah and the Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah. He also served as a Consultant at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, UK, before relocating to the UAE. He practised at the Al Qassimi Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Sharjah, a government tertiary children’s hospital in the UAE, where he served as Head of the Paediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology Unit and led comprehensive endocrine services for a large regional paediatric population. He also serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Sharjah, where he teaches the MSc Diabetes programme. 
Dr. Farooque is widely recognised for his expertise in paediatric diabetes and uses advanced diabetes technologies such as continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pump therapy and hybrid closed-loop systems. He also has extensive experience across the full spectrum of paediatric endocrinology, including the management of growth disorders, disorders of puberty, thyroid disease, adrenal and pituitary conditions, calcium and bone disorders, disorders of sex development and genital endocrinology, as well as endocrine late effects in childhood and adolescent cancer survivors. He combines evidence-based medicine with clear, compassionate communication to support children and families in managing both acute and long-term endocrine conditions. 
He remains actively involved in professional paediatric endocrinology forums in the UAE and currently chairs the Dubai Paediatric Endocrinology Club and is a frequent national and international speaker at medical conferences. In his spare time, he enjoys trekking and exploring the application of AI in medical education.
