Dr. Amar Al-Omar is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Medcare, specializing in Sports Medicine and Joint Replacement Reconstruction. With nearly 30 years of orthopaedic surgical experience, Dr. Al-Omar has built an exceptional career in Orthopaedics, practicing extensively across several countries, most notably in the United Kingdom. His professional journey includes distinguished roles in multiple NHS hospitals across the West Midlands and South West England, including University Teaching Hospitals.

Dr. Al-Omar is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Member and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom and Ireland (MRCS, FRCS Tr.&Orth.). Furthermore; he also holds a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Biomedical Mechanical Engineering from Cardiff University, UK (MSc Orth. Engg.). Prior to his work in the UK, he practiced and trained Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery at a University Teaching Hospital in Jordan, where he earned the Jordanian Board and High Specialization degrees in Orthopaedic Surgery. His Primary Medical Degree (MBChB) was awarded with honours from Baghdad, Iraq.

Dr. Al-Omar’s subspecialty is Sports Injuries, with extensive expertise in shoulder arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery. His practice includes the management of subacromial impingement, rotator cuff repair, Bankart repair and stabilization, acromioclavicular joint arthritis, and frozen shoulder. He is highly regarded for his proficiency in sports-related knee injuries, performing keyhole and arthroscopic surgeries such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, meniscal repair, revision ACL reconstruction, patellar instability reconstruction, multi-ligament knee injury repair, cartilage regeneration, and tendon injury treatment. His work also incorporates advanced stem cell and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapies.

In addition, Dr. Al-Omar possesses substantial experience and subspecialises in major joint reconstruction, performing primary and complex knee replacement surgeries, revision surgeries, and total hip replacements. He also performs arthroscopic ankle procedures, ankle fusion, ankle ligament reconstruction, toe deformity correction, and both conservative and surgical treatments for simple and complex fractures of the upper and lower extremities. Dedicated to patient-centered care, Dr. Al-Omar emphasizes conservative treatment options before proceeding with surgical interventions.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Al-Omar enjoys swimming, traveling, reading, and spending quality time with his family. He is fluent in Arabic and English.
