Psychology and Mental Health

Psychology is the science of how the mind works and how it affects behavior whilst mental health involves a person’s social, psychological and emotional wellbeing. Having mental health issues can impact everything from the way one view themselves to the way one functions daily.

Issues with mental health, especially if it is persistent or recurring is debilitating. It affects a person very much like any other physical health issues. But, so often, it is being dismissed and goes untreated. Mental health is like any other medical condition where one cannot easily just snap out of. They will require the needed treatment and care like any other person who has a medical condition.

Our Psychology Team

Our psychology department houses a team of trained and clinically skilled mental health professionals who are driven by the sole purpose of your overall wellbeing. Our psychologists help treat mental health issues across a broad range of difficulties, and across all age groups.

Our psychologists work closely and collaboratively with you in a safe, supportive, respected and confidential environment that will make you feel cared for. Visiting a psychologist regularly could be one way to ensure that your mental health is in check and is not impeding your day-to-day life.

When should I consult with a Psychologist?

You don’t have to be extremely sick to get help. It is important to seek help early. The earlier you seek help, the better the prognosis is and the easier it will be to bounce back to optimal functioning. It is important to note that, delay in seeking treatment affects recovery.

You should reach out and seek treatment if:

  • You have thoughts, emotions or behaviours that seem to be out of your control and is negatively affecting your functioning (e.g., relationships, work/school, health, home).
  • You are struggling with significant life events such as divorce, death, or illness
  • You need an unbiased and caring person to help you sort out your feelings and thoughts
  • You feel hopeless
