Prof. Guido Mannaerts MD PhD, is a very experienced Laparoscopic bariatric, colorectal and oncology surgeon. 

After completing his degree in Medicine at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, he received his surgery residency training at the Catharina Hospital Eindhoven and University Hospital Maastricht, The Netherlands. During that time he also obtained a PhD from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, for his thesis tilted: ‘IORT-containing multimodality treatment for locally advanced primary and locally recurrent rectal cancer’. Following that prof Guido obtained a fellowship training in laparoscopic GI-oncological surgery at the Catharina Hospital Eindhoven, which training was honored with a double board super-specialisation fellowship certification as a gastro-intestinal surgeon and as an oncology surgeon by the Netherlands surgical board (NVvH). 

After his surgical training professor Guido worked for 12 years as a Laparoscopic bariatric, colorectal and oncology surgeon at the St. Franciscus Gasthuis teaching hospital in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where he functioned as the head of surgery and lead of the general surgery residency program. 

Next, he worked for 9 years as a consultant bariatric and oncology surgeon at the Tawam University Hospital, Al Ain, UAE, where he initially functioned as chief of the surgery division and after that as the Chair of the Surgery Department (COD). During that time he became an adjunct (full) professor at the UAE University in Al Ain, which teaching assignment he continues till today. 

Currently he also works as an independent consultant bariatric and oncology surgeon at Mediclinic Main hospital in Al Ain as well at Gulf Specialised Hospital, Muscat, Oman.

Prof. Mannaerts has performed over 10000 surgeries and has a special focus on safe and minimal scar, fast-recovery surgical approach. He has wide experience in the most complex cases of bariatric, colorectal, oncology and general surgery. As he has written over 100 scientific publications in international medical peer-reviewed journals, performed a PhD, and is functioning as an adjunct professor, his approach to his patients is very scientific evidence-based, which ensures his patients to receive the newest and most safe surgical approaches. Moreover, professor Guido is transparent and friendly in his communication with his patients.
