Dr. Krishnadas Nair is a reputed Orthopaedic Surgeon working at Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital. He completed his MBBS at NDMVP Samaj’s Medical College, Adgaon, Nashik, and a Diploma in Orthopaedics from the Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram, both from India. He also holds a Master of Surgery in Orthopaedics (MS Ortho) from the Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram, India. Later, he obtained a Master of Surgery in Trauma & Orthopaedics (MCh) from the Edgehill University in Ormskirk, UK. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), Edinburgh, and a Fellow of the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (FEBOT), Switzerland. He also holds memberships in international orthopaedic associations such as the Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie (SICOT) and the British Indian Orthopaedic Society (BIOS). Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Edinburgh.
Dr. Nair began his career in India as a Junior Resident at the Orthopaedic Department of the Government Medical College and at the District Model Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, and then became a Resident Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sree Gokulam Medical College, Kerala. He briefly served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the SK Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram before moving to the UK to pursue an international Fellowship in joint replacements and arthroscopy. He completed his advanced training and fellowship at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, UK and then did a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the world-renowned Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital, Oswestry, both in the UK. He worked at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in the UK as a Specialty Doctor in Trauma & Orthopaedics. Subsequently, he relocated to the UAE to join NMC Specialty Hospital at Al Nahda in Dubai before moving to Medcare.
Dr. Nair’s forte encompasses tremendous expertise in joint replacement surgery, sports injury management, and trauma care. During his stint in the UK, he gained extensive practical experience in complex hip and knee joint replacements, as well as shoulder and knee arthroscopic surgeries. He has obtained much hands-on training in all types of knee replacements, including standard TKR, medial pivot knees, unicondylar Oxford knee replacements, and revision TKR. He has mastered skills in uncemented and cemented total hip replacements. He is an expert in arthroscopic ACL reconstruction, using the gold standard patellar tendon graft. This results in a plethora of successfully operated young active patients who can then return to an active lifestyle and sports. He is proficient in both operative and non-operative management of the upper and lower limb fractures. He performs hand surgeries, including Carpal Tunnel decompression, de Quervain’s Tenosynovitis, trigger finger and thumb release, and ganglion excision. He also does non-operative management of common orthopaedic conditions. Dr. Nair has been widely involved in research activities relating to hip and knee arthroplasties. His areas of special interest include hip and knee primary and revision arthroplasty, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, sports injuries, and fracture fixation surgery.
